About Me
My Background
I have had the great fortune of working on some truly inspiring projects while networking with many influential and creative individuals along the way. I believe in the power of working together to create a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts. Future Plans
In May, 2019, I will be a candidate for a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film from Dillard University. After graduation, I plan to attend the University of New Orleans, where I will pursue a Master of Fine Arts degree in Film Production. With that degree, I plan to teach all elements of film, from creative to technical, to the youth of New Orleans. My goal is to inspire the next generation to create cinematic content that will allow them to be in control of their own narratives, control their image in the media, and change the way the rest of the world perceives them.
Statement of Film Philosophy
Growing up, I've always loved watching films. The best films, in my opinion, are the ones that stimulate your imagination. Paying close attention to the many elements of film, I eventually decided to learn and practice the art of filmmaking. I've come to the conclusion that the music in films is probably the most important aspect, considering that it sets the mood for the audience. Film is an art that inspires and overall improves our lives.
Statement of Philosophy Concerning University and Community Service
I strongly believe that my college experience should prepare me for a future career in Film, as well as inspire me to be more conscious of the needs in my community. I believe that the university's requirement to serve at least 120 community service hours for graduation contributed to the awareness that I have of the needs in my community. The university has partnered with community service organizations all over the city of New Orleans in order to ensure that every student has an opportunity to help improve the conditions of the community, as well as meet the needs of the less fortunate.
